Another rant about feminism

It disgusts me that the Democrats were able to win the 2012 presidential election not on the president’s record, but on abortion and rape. What I learned from this election is that the Democratic Party has essentially reduced womanhood to our lady parts. It’s okay, sweetie… let big government take care of you and leave this fiscal cliff stuff to the boys. So masses of women my age went to the polls and voted for Obama because of their lady parts, proving to the left that women are, in fact, mindless zombies controlled by their reproductive organs.

The very essence of feminism, the way that first wave feminists likes Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony saw it, was that women had brains and should be involved in the voting process. It was a long battle, but in 1920, Stanton’s and Anthony’s dream finally came true. Unfortunately they weren’t alive to see it, although they did write the original draft of the 19th Amendment when it was first introduced in 1878. Today it seems this idea has been forgotten in the public discourse about women’s issues.

Feminism was not about the right to murder your child. It was not about the right to demand the government to subsidize your sex life. It was about the belief that women could think for themselves and, since they were raising families, might actually have some common sense as to what types of legislation would be good for the country as a whole. I know, crazy…  Women raising families? This idea is heresy to today’s feminists. But I digress.

I’m a conservative because I’m a woman. I have a brain. I think for myself, and I realize there is a lot more to life than my vagina. Like the national debt… and taxes… you know, silly things like that. These things don’t only affect men… they affect me directly, and they can affect my ability to pursue my career, or raise a family, or whatever it is I decide to do with my life someday.

As a young conservative woman, I support each individual’s right to choose what they want to do with their lives, whether it is to pursue a career, have a family, or both. Who am I to tell someone that they are less of a woman because they don’t buy into the gender wage gap theory? Who am I to tell someone that they are less of a woman because they decided to pursue a full time career instead of raising a family or vice versa? The fact of the matter is that today women have more opportunities to do whatever they want. We are not second class citizens. We are equal.

I'm excited to announce that I will be writing weekly blogs[rants] on feminism for Countered Cultured starting in January. I may even do vlogs (aka me reading to you one of my rants with lots of dramatic flair on video). I pretty much never let an opprotunity to bash feminists go to waste.

Oh, and the post before my announcement was an excerpt from a chapter I contributed to an e-book about young conservatives.  I'll give out more info on when that is available on Amazon as I know more, but I can tell you this... it's going to be legit. There are some pretty awesome contributors, many of whom I know personally. :) So I'll keep you updated as to when that's available.

Have a safe New Year. 2013 is going to be an exciting year... I can just feel it. :D

  1. I agree with you that people should never vote solely based on one issue, but I don't think that's necessarily how Obama won the presidency. Sure GOPers said some whack stuff about vaginas and abortion (two very personal issues to some women as it pertains to their bodies -- selfish, I know), but there are a lot of social issues that are problematic for some modern women.

Women are constantly shown as more in favor of gay rights than men; right now, republican politicians across the country are passing/have passed sexist laws not only pertaining to rape or abortion, but to wage equality, welfare for single mothers, and domestic abuse; modern women are beginning to recognize how few power women the GOP has to boast. I think it's a complex issue that needs to be analyzed a lot more.

I'm all for crossing party lines and trying to learn from one another, but there are just some things the GOP, the Fox News juggernaut, and other conservative media sources need to pick up before they get people back on their side: humility. There's this new strategy among republicans to create dramatic but fundamentally problematic/untrue scapegoats like the one presented here in the article. There's also the issue of doubling down when one has been found out to be incorrect. Admitting you're wrong and there are things you need to fix isn't a terrible thing. It helps you and your team improve.

For instance, I could go on for hours about how President Obama didn't totally please me with his first term, but that doesn't mean I hate him. I could also rant about how ridiculous the democratic party was after the supreme court decision in the 2000 election for not fighting it. I am willing to admit that total gun control is ridiculous and, actually, quite terrifying. These things happen. To move forward (sorry... I didn't mean to use HIS campaign slogan here, lol), you have to try and figure out what exactly YOU did wrong and fix it. Accusing the majority of women who voted for a presidential candidate of being single-minded isn't gonna help your case, just as much as me calling a Christian a brain-washed lunatic isn't going to make him say "hey! maybe I'm a brain-washed lunatic."

Anyway, cool blog. Hope you had a cool Christmas and you have a rad New Year's.
