H8rz gonna h8.

Yes, yes, I know.  It has been over a month since my last blog post... I'm sorry. Life is busy out here in the DC metro area. There is a lot I could talk about, or a lot of articles I could link to... but I'm not going to do that to you. If you want to catch up on what I have written for the MRC in the past month, here is my writer profile. Enjoy.

The real purpose of this post is to recount how to beat the trollz. :)

Yesterday, I received this tweet from this guy I met a few years ago at a party.

It was weird for me because I literally met the guy once and I haven't talked to him again.  I noticed a few weeks ago that he had been trolling on me after my atheist friend tried to pick a fight with me over the whole Chick-fil-a debate, something I briefly mentioned a while back.

I promptly retweeted and favorited his tweet and was going to ignore him... but you all know me.  I couldn't resist.

We went back and forth for a while.  You can see the whole exchange on my feed (I don't delete tweet battles, unlike other people I have encountered before....). Finally he said this:

Which is true.  Believe it or not, I don't always talk about politics! Crazy, I know.  I responded:

And it has been silent on his end ever since. You see, he gets his giggles from attacking people like me. The fact that he said this:

just shows how tolerant he is.  Really?  Because he has learned my politics years after meeting me, he can't grasp how I can be funny and cool. Oy... cruel world indeed. All it takes to beat a liberal troll is civility and respect.

  1. Oh, Liz. Don't take it so personally! I hate the ideology, not the individual! I feel like we're very polarized. It kind of scares me sometimes how much I hate conservatism. I don't like it when it infects my relationships, so I try to be good, but I'm like as liberal as they get. I really hope I didn't make you feel awful. To be fair your writing is fine, I just don't like the message. I hope I didn't make you think I hate you or your writing.

And to be fair, we had a hilarious time at that party. I think it stuck with me, because...

a.) I wasn't expecting to have a good time since I didn't really know the guy whose bday party it was.
b.) You were witty and fun, and we had a genuinely good time.
c.) Wade pointed out a bit ago that you were that person we hung with.

It blew my mind! Now, let's just be political nemesi (nemesises?), but not hate each other as people.

    1. I appreciate your response, Chance. I didn't take it personally, no worries. I just needed to blog about something and you seemed like a good way to get back in the blogosphere. :) Glad we can (possibly) have a civil discourse from this point on. Look how much you learned! Conservatives aren't barbaric morons like you've been thinking... there are actually some funny and witty ones of us out there, and you may actually enjoy our company! Crazy, I know. :)
